Floating into Calm: My Magnesium Float Experience

There are some experiences that arrive at exactly the right moment.
As many of you know, I am a little bit obsessed with magnesium. I talk about it often, infuse it into my balms, lotions and sprays, and love sharing the many ways it can support our bodies and nervous systems. Magnesium has been such an important part of my own self-care rituals for years, helping with sleep, tight muscles, relaxation and creating a sense of calm.
So I was absolutely thrilled when my beautiful neighbour gifted me a voucher to visit The Life Spring Rockingham for a magnesium float cabin experience.
The timing of my visit could not have been more perfect.
For the past few weeks I had been experiencing quite a lot of back pain. I could feel myself constantly holding and bracing, my body staying tight and guarded without me even realising. I knew I needed something that would allow me to soften, let go and truly relax.
The float cabin at The Life Spring is filled with warm water and a high concentration of magnesium-rich Epsom salts. You simply lie back and float effortlessly. Gentle music can be played if you wish, there are options for soft lighting including twinkling stars, or you can choose complete darkness and stillness.

From the moment I settled into the water, I could feel my whole body begin to exhale.
Without the usual pull of gravity, there was no pressure on my back, no need to hold myself upright or keep bracing against the discomfort. My muscles slowly softened. My nervous system settled. For the first time in weeks I felt completely supported.
There was something incredibly beautiful about being held by the water in that way. It felt like giving myself permission to stop, to rest, and to simply be.
Because the float cabin contains such a concentrated amount of magnesium, your body is absorbing it through the skin for the entire session. It is really the ultimate topical magnesium experience.
Magnesium is such an incredible mineral. It can assist with muscle tension, cramping, sleep, relaxation and recovery. Many people also find it helpful for supporting the body through stress, headaches, restless legs and those moments when the nervous system feels overstimulated.
For me, magnesium has always been one of the gentlest ways to support the body naturally, which is why it forms such an important part of my MelissaMade with Love range.
My Magnesium Magic balm, lotions and spray are all created to help you bring that support into your everyday life. While most of us may not have access to a float cabin every week, we can still create little moments of magnesium self-care at home.
Imagine finishing a long day by massaging magnesium lotion into tired legs and shoulders, applying Magnesium Magic Balm to a tight lower back or neck, or spraying your feet before bed as part of your evening ritual. These small acts can become such beautiful reminders to pause, breathe and care for yourself.
One of the most powerful parts of the float experience for me was how deeply it calmed my nervous system.
When we spend so much of life rushing, caring for others and moving from one thing to the next, our bodies can become stuck in a constant state of stress and alertness. Floating invited me back into stillness. I could feel my body shift from holding and tension into softness and ease.
Afterwards I felt lighter, calmer and more peaceful. My back pain had eased, but more than that, I felt as though I had returned to myself.
It reminded me that sometimes the most healing thing we can do is allow ourselves to slow down.
I was also delighted recently to meet the new owner Carly and Melissa at The Life Spring. Melissa, who is the resident beauty and massage therapist there, has begun using my MelissaMade with Love salon range skincare in the signature facials offered at The Life Spring, along with my Magnesium Magic Balm in relaxation, deep tissue and remedial massage treatments.
One of the lovely things about visiting The Life Spring Rockingham is that you can create a beautiful self-care experience all in one place. Along with a float, you can also add on a facial or massage, or spend time in the sauna while you are there. It feels like such a nurturing way to truly slow down, support your body and give yourself a little extra care.
It is always so rewarding for me to know that my products are being woven into these beautiful treatments and becoming part of other people’s self-care and healing experiences.
If you have been feeling tired, tense, overwhelmed or simply in need of a little extra care, perhaps this is your gentle reminder to create a moment for yourself too.
Maybe that looks like booking a float. Maybe it is taking five quiet minutes to massage magnesium magic into your shoulders before bed. Maybe it is simply sitting with a cup of tea and giving yourself permission to rest.
However it looks, you are worthy of that softness and care.
And if you would like to bring a little more magnesium into your days, my range of magnesium-infused balms, lotions and sprays are always here to support you, one small self-care ritual at a time. 💙
